Excellent thirty year old Montana Gibson in remarkable condition. Recent modifications and upgrades performed by Bruce Weber including; refret and radius of fretboard, new bone nut, scalloped fretboard extension, new K & K pickup and new Ebony bridge. Somewhere along the line, the original tailpiece was replaced with a James.
Specs:
Sitka Spruce top, figured Maple back/sides/neck in a traditional gloss lacquer finish. single ivoroid bound top, radius Ebony fretboard, Ebony adjustable bridge, parallel tone bars, 1-1/8″ nut width, fleur-de-lis headstock inlay and Schaller tuning machines.
Tone is warm and dry. Strong mid-range type mandolin with excellent clarity and note definition. Not particularly loud, but has the K & K. Good bluegrass chop. Set up very nicely.
Excellent-plus condition, relative to age, showing basically light playwear. Has one smallish ding on top and a few finish checks, which seems to be typical of the Montana Gibson’s. Rims have a couple blemishes from a Tonegard. Also has a couple tiny mounting holes from original pickguard which is not available or included in this sale. Headstock has a few string scratches.
Inlcudes original hard shell case. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
