Special Flatty!!!
Price: $3499.95
Super special Nashville built Flatiron, that was a NAMM instrument for 2000. Built during the Derrington Era at Gibson Custom Gibson, this fine example features a unique merlot finish. The Festival model was Flatiron’s cousin to Gibson’s F-5G.
Sitka Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a merlot gloss lacquer finish. Single ply Ivoroid bound top, flat Ebony fretboard, Ebony adjustable bridge, parallel tone bars, 1-1/16″ nut width, Fleur-de-lis headstock inlay and gold hardware includes engraved traditional tailpiece and Gibson Grover tuning gears.
Responsive and strong mandolin with that classic Gibson tone. Warm, dry and woody. Very strong ‘D’ string. Excellent bluegrass chop. Excellent example of the Derrington/Sim Daley sound from the early 2000’s.
Excellent condition, relative to age. Has a fair amount of playwear, but all of it is on the light side, pick marks and some tiny pings to the top, back and headstock. Just returned from the shop, where it had the bridge base better fitted to the top and set-up.
Includes a newish Northfield Airloom case. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
