Terrific 2-Point!!!
Price: $3999.95 **SOLD**
Remarkable Phoenix mandolin, built by retired builder, Rolfe Gerhardt, s/n 260. This fine example features top shelf woods and excellent appointments combined with a sensational voice. One owner mandolin, purchased new from Elderly in 01. Exceptionally clean.
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a traditional tobacco sunburst gloss finish. Radius Ebony fretboard, 1-1/8″ nut width. Parallel tone bars, Mother-of-Pearl headstock inlay. Nickel hardware includes engraved traditional tailpiece and Grover tuning gears. Pickguard was added and finish removed from back of neck in recent years. Work accomplished by Rolfe’s daughter. Otherwise, all original.
If you’re a fan of big, round, woody tone, this fine offering should be considered. This mandolin is a Hoss. Sound that you can feel. Very powerful and responsive mandolin. Definitely a banjo slayer. Aggressive bluegrass chop. Outstanding pro set up (Rolfe’s daughter again) with low action.
Excellent-plus to near mint condition overall. Body shows some superficial play wear (light finish scratches) and pick scratches under the pickguard. Headstock shows some string scratches and fretboard has some fretwear, but shouldn’t require fretwork for some time.
Includes original heavy duty hard shell case.
Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
