Rare example of renowned Japanese luthier, Sumi. This remarkable instrument is #2 of only 8 25th Anniversary mandolins, built in 2003 of top shelf woods, excellent appointments and features a delightful voice.
Specs:
Solid aged Adirondack Spruce top, Maple back/sides/neck in a dark burst varnish finish with 3-ply bindings throughout. Flat Ebony fretboard, 1-1/16″ nut width, V-shape neck, parallel tone bars, Schaller tuning gears with pearl buttons, traditional engraved tailpiece and elegant Fern headstock inlay.
Classic bluegrass tone, dry, woody and resonant. Excellent sustain, and big volume. Superbly balanced with excellent note definition. Strong bluegrass chop.
Near-mint condition. Shows some clip-on tuner rash on back edge of headstock and a barely visible ding and perhaps a very light finish scratch or two. Very clean.
