Relatively early MT-2. Collings started building mandolins in 2000 and this example, s/n 505, dates to 2004. Very impressive A-5 style mandolin featuring remarkably fine cosmetic condition and exceptional sound.
Specs:
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a traditional sunburst gloss lacquer finish w/ 3-ply bindings throughout, radius Ebony fretboard, 1-1/8″ nut width, tone bar bracing and gold hardware includes Gotoh tuning machines and a cast (Allen style) tailpiece.
Exceptional sounding mandolin. has the more modern sound; deep dark and woody tones, excellent volume and sustain and a strong bluegrass chop.
Excellent-plus condition. Superficial finish stuff, pick marks. String scratch or three on the headstock. Very minor fretwear. Very clean.
Offered with original Collings case. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
