Sensational twenty year old Master Model, s/n V70426 . Signed by Danny Roberts on January 18, 2005. MandoMutt is mighty fond of Master Models. This fine example features the best woods, excellent appointments and a lovely classic Gibson voice.
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a tobacco burst thin varnish finish. 3-Ply binding throughout. Flat Ebony fretboard, parallel tone bars, 1-1/16″ nut width, Flowerpot headstock inlay and Waverly tuning machines with Pearl buttons. Tortoise pickguard also triple bound. 100% Original.
Warm, rich and very dry tones. Nicely balanced featuring complex overtones and a stellar bluegrass chop. Fantastic setup, low action.
Excellent condition showing only light playwear. Has a couple tiny marks/scratches on the top. The ultra thin varnish has become a tad cloudy on the back, which is typical for Master’s of this era. Very light fretwear, nearly none. Headstock shows some string scratches and minor blemishes. Overall, this mandolin has very little wear and is quite clean.
Original Loar style hard shell case included. Trades are welcome on this fine American made instrument.
