Price: $22,499.95
As perfect as a distressed mandolin can be. Based on Ricky’s 1923 Loar F-5. Very tasteful distressing and a exceptionally attractive mandolin, featuring; top shelf woods (incredible back), superb appointments and, best of all, a remarkable voice. Additionally, and according to the previous owner, this fine example was formerly owned by Skaggs himself. It is #7 of 30.
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a cremona burst varnish finish. 3-Ply top binding, single ply bound fretboard, flat Ebony fretboard, Ebony adjustable bridge, parallel tone bars, 1-1/16″ nut width and 1923 replica Flowerpot headstock inlay. Waverly tuning machines with pearl buttons.
Spectacular sound. Dry, warm and dynamic. Resonant and powerful. Very precise note definition. Articulate. ‘E’ string is stellar, but they’re all strong. Complex overtones. Exceptional bluegrass chop. Beyond Beast sound.
Distressed condition. Lightly distressed and very well done. Excellent set up. Perfect neck, if you’re like me and prefer small necks.
Includes oblong Loar replica case and an engraved Small Dog case cover. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
