Christmas Eve Mandolin!!
Price: $7499.95
That’s right, the label on this gem was signed by Chris Stanley on December 24, 2008. Super clean offering, s/n 44, features a stunning one piece back, an exquisite headstock inlay, excellent appointments and a lovely Loar-like voice. A keeper!
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a cremona burst varnish finish, 3-ply (side) bindings throughout, flat Ebony fretboard, 1-1/16″ pearl nut width, parallel tone bars, nickel hardware includes; engraved James tailpiece and Grover tuning gears. Exquisite and unique Fern/Urn headstock inlay.
Amazing sound. Classic Loar like tone, woody, dry and warm. Dynamic and punchy. Solid chop and excellent volume. Terrific bluegrass mandolin.
Excellent-plus condition. Top shows some smallish and minor scratches and pick marks in the ultra thin varnish. The finish looks identical to some of the Derrington Master Models I’ve had. Bridge has been moved from it’s original location with a visible footprint. Headstock has string scratches and frets show some wear, I’d say medium fretwear. James tailpiece is quite tarnished, needs a good polishing.
Includes a Canadian Calton, black/green, also quite clean. Hoffee shell case. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made mandolin.
