Another fine Ellis mandolin. We’ve had several of late. Always good to have an Ellis or two in the shop as they sell quickly. This fine example, s/n 290, features outstanding woods and appointments, impeccable fit and finish and a heavenly voice. Extraordinarily fine.
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple one piece back, Maple sides and neck in a cremona sunburst varnished finish, 3-ply bindings throughout, radius Ebony fretboard, 1-1/8″ bone nut, abbreviated Ebony pick guard, parallel tone bars, and an exquisite Mother-of-Pearl headstock inlay. Gold hardware includes engraved James tailpiece and Waverly tuning gears with pearl buttons. Also has a pick up, likely K & K.
Heavenly sound. Warm, rich and dynamic sounding mandolin. Complex overtones and exceptional sustain and balance. Bold bluegrass chop and big volume. Very refined sounding instrument.
Excellent-plus condition. Top has light play wear, with a few minor scratches/pick marks. Has an armrest footprint. Nearly no fretwear.
Includes a Calton, black/forest green case, also like new. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made mandolin.
