Hoss!!!
Price: $4699.95
Epic BRW. This fine example has got the tone. More on that below. Exceptional Pro grade mandolin, s/n 109 featuring top shelf woods, excellent appointments and a big bluegrass voice. Very strong!
Engelmann Spruce top, highly figured hard Maple one piece back, hard Maple sides and neck in a cremona burst varnish finish. 3-Ply bound body, single ivoroid bound fretboard and headstock. Radius Ebony fretboard, 1-1/8″ nut width, abbreviated Ebony pickguard and lovely Urn headstock inlay. Original tuning gears have been replaced with Rubner and James tailpiece is a replacement as well. Also has a rather Ebony large armrest, likely a McClung.
I’ve got this mandolin on consignment for a friend of Skip Kelley. I got a message from Skip claiming that this mandolin is one of the best he’s ever played. After sampling, I’ll have to agree with Skip’s assessment. Big, powerful sound. Quite dynamic. Classic bluegrass tone. Huge chop. I don’t think you’ll find a better sounding mandolin at this price point. An absolute Hoss!
Excellent-plus condition showing a few small scratches on the top along with scratches and blemishes around bridge bases and some small scratches and blemishes on front and back of headstock. Very minor fretwear. Clean mandolin overall.
Offered with gold tweed case. Trades gladly considered.
