We like this mandolin. Sounds delightful. Dry and warm. Very dry. Mutt adores dry tone. Plenty of pop and excellent note definition. This is s/n 499, handcrafted by one of the greats. Excellent appointments and premium woods.
2017 Loar LM-700 Mandolin Specs:
Hand carved solid Spruce top, solid figured maple back/sides/neck in a tobacco sunburst gloss lacquer finish with 3-ply bindings throughout. Flat Ebony fretboard and Ebony bridge. Gold hardware includes engraved traditional tailpiece and Gotoh tuners and topped off with an exquisite Abalone “Fern” headstock inlay.
Outstanding sound. Rich and woody tones with plenty of bark and an excellent chop. Big volume, really projects. Will not disappoint.
Excellent condition overall. Top has a small ding and an area of finish scarring in front of the bridge, not sure what caused it. Back has an area of finish scratching about the size of a dime and another smaller, barely noticeable spot. Someone may have had one of those ridiculous Tone Gards installed. Minor fretwear.
Includes an Eastman style case.
