Amazing F-5 mandolin from the Northfield clan. This fine example, features a stunning Leather Burst finish, excellent appointments, impeccable fit and finish and a terrific original oblong fiberglass case and case cover. I don’t believe Northfield offers this type of case and cover currently.
Adirondack Spruce top, figured Maple back/sides/neck in a leather burst finish, tortoise bound top. Radius Ebony fretboard, 1-1/8″ nut width, parallel tone bars, abbreviated Tortoise style pickguard, Gotoh tuning machines with black buttons and James tailpiece (likely a replacement).
Big, powerful sound. Deep, woody and well balanced. Chunky bluegrass chop. Punchy.
Excellent condition showing mainly minor playwear, a couple pick scratches and superficial finish marks. has a little fret wear, but on the minor side. Headstock has some string scratches. Excellent setup.
Offered with original oblong fiberglass case and case cover. Trades gladly considered.
