Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Sugar Maple one piece back, Maple sides and neck in a cremona burst varnished finish, 3-ply bindings throughout, radiused Ebony fretboard and EVO frets, 1-1/8″ nut width, abbreviated Ebony pick guard and exquisite Fern-pot headstock inlay. Gold hardware includes engraved James tailpiece and Waverly tuning gears with Mother-of-Pearl buttons.
Heavenly sound. Deep, woody tone and richly balanced. Complex overtones. Bold and chunky chop. Tom Ellis may be the architect of the “modern mandolin tone” and this one is a perfect example. One of the best sounding Ellis mandolins we’ve had.
