The one piece Quilted Maple back is incredible. Some of the finest quilt I’ve seen. Exquisitely Epic!
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Quilted Maple one piece back, sides and neck in a cremona burst varnished finish, 3-ply Tortoise bindings throughout, radiused Ebony fretboard with block inlays, 1-1/8″ nut width, abbreviated Ebony pick guard and a lovely headstock inlay. Gold hardware includes; custom cast tailpiece, and Waverly tuning gears with Mother-of-Pearl buttons.
Heavenly sound. Deep, woody tone and richly balanced. Complex overtones. Bold and chunky chop. Tom Ellis may be the architect of the “modern mandolin tone” and this one is a perfect example. One of the best sounding Ellis mandolins we’ve had.
Mint condition. No flaws or blemishes. Showroom clean.
