Beastie!
Price: $4499.95
Terrific pre-owned offering, built by Max Girouard in Rhode Island, USA. This fine example, s/n 270, is the first Girouard we’ve had a a few 24 hours. MandoMutt sold new Girouard’s at one time, but I think they were still in double digit s/n’s at that time. This lovely lady features top shelf woods, excellent appointments and a delightful voice.
Adirondack top, vividly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a cremona burst varnish finish, single ply Ivoroid bound body, radius Ebony fretboard, 1-3/16″ nut width, Ebony bridge, parallel tone bars. Nickel hardware includes engraved James tailpiece and Rubner tuning gears with black buttons.
Tone is woody and dry. Not as dry as the early Cedar topped Girouard’s but still plenty of the snap crackle and pop that MandoMutt much likes. Very responsive mandolin with a powerful bluegrass chop. Quite strong.
Excellent-plus to near mint condition. Top shows a few superficial pick marks and finish hazing. Very minor. Fretwear is minimal, nearly none. Offered with an equally clean Calton case, black/green, or save $700 with a basic hardshell case.
Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
