Mighty fine A-5 mandolin. Just in on consignment. Quint mandolins are a relatively new model, but not a new builder. These special instruments are built by a former builder of Northfield instruments, Qin Ji Duo from Northfield and Kentucky mandolins. This particular offering, s/n 51, is essentially identical to a Northfield A-5 Special. Looks, materials and sound.
Specs:
Italian Spruce top with tortoise binding, Swiss Maple back/sides/neck in a cremona burst, varnish (or possibly shellac) finish. 3-ply bindings everywhere. Radius Ebony fretboard, 1-1/8″ nut width, parallel tone bars, Gotoh tuning gears with black buttons, cast tailpiece and vine headstock inlay. Abbreviated pick guard.
Strong and vibrant sound featuring a dry, woody tone. Rich and well balanced with significant sustain and volume. Powerful and responsive. Strong chop.
Basically like new condition. No flaws or blemishes to speak of, however action is a little on the high side and there’s not really any room left on the bridge.
Includes equally new Superior fiberglass case. Black/red. Trades gladly considered.
