Remarkable recent Pava A-5, s/n 469, built by Pava Knezevic in the Ellis shop in Austin, featuring; top shelf woods, excellent appointments, combined with a delightful voice. Too me, these Pava mandolins are every bit as good as an Ellis. Even look nearly identical.
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Red Maple back/sides/neck in a handsome cremona sunburst gloss varnish finish, 3-ply bound body, single-ply fretboard and headstock, radius Ebony fretboard, EVO frets, 1-1/8″ nut width, parallel tone bars, engraved James tailpiece and Gotoh tuning gears with black buttons. Abbreviated Ebony pickguard. Elegant “Iris” Mother-of-Pearl headstock inlay.
Sounds very similar to an Ellis also. Warm, woody and rich. Nicely balanced. Chunky chop. Volume aplenty. A real crowd pleaser.
Near mint condition. One small impression scratch above the bass f-hole near the binding and an armrest footprint. Otherwise, like new. Outstanding set-up.
Includes a white Superior case. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made mandolin.
