Price: $8499.95
Recently sold a 2024 Aleyas, which was Mutt’s first. Here’s our second, s/n 067-43. This special offering features top shelf woods, exceptional appointments, combined with excellent playability and fantastic sound. Handcrafted by Lee Chapman in Charleston West Virginia, this is a first class professional grade mandolin.
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured one piece Red Maple back, Maple sides and neck in a vintage burst varnish finish with french polish top coat, 3-ply side bindings throughout, radius Ebony fretboard with block inlays, 1-1/8″ nut width, abbreviated Ebony pickguard and parallel tone bars. Gold hardware includes; engraved James tailpiece and Waverly tuning gears with Ivoroid buttons. Lovely torch headstock inlay.
I copied the following from our 2024 listing as this example has the same tonal qualities.
A definitive hoss. Big, round sound. Reminds me of a Kimble or perhaps an Ellis on steroids. Leans a tad more toward traditional tones than an Ellis though. Very powerful and provides a stellar bluegrass chop and plenty of sustain.
Near mint condition showing one tiny scratch near the lower f-hole and one string scratch on the headstock. No fretwear worth mentioning.
Includes an Aleyas Calton case, purple/gold. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
