Top of the line F-5 mandolin from the Northfield clan. This super fine example offers several hundred dollars in upgrades including Waverly tuning gears combined with a delightful voice.
Specs:
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple one piece back, Maple sides and neck in an antique burst spirit varnish finish. 3-Ply binding throughout. Radius Ebony fretboard, parallel tone bars, 1-1/8″ nut width, tortoise style abbreviated pickguard, Waverly tuning machines with Ebony buttons and engraved Nugget tailpiece.
Excellent condition showing some minor playwear. Several scratches between bass f-hole and scroll from overzealous picking and a few lighter scratches around treble f. Has a light footprint from one of those danged arm rest gadgets on the back. Has some fretwear, but not close to needing a dressing at this time.
Big, powerful sound. Rich and balanced. She’s been played significantly over the past 15-16 months and her voice is very nicely played in. Woody and warm with plenty of depth, crisp mid’s and crystal clear highs. Strong chop. She’s a Hoss!
