Magnificant Mandola!!!
Price: $3,499.95 $3249.95
Excellent offering from Collings, s/n 2911, which may place it as a 2013 model, but I’m not certain. Like it’s smaller cousin, the MT mandolin, this is essentially a stripped down model, nothing fancy. Like all Collings instruments, this fine example features exceptional woods, impeccable fit and finish and a delightful voice.
Specs:
Engelmann Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a dark sunburst satin finish. Top is tortoise bound. Adjustable Ebony bridge, radiused Ebony fretboard and parallel tone bars. Nickel hardware includes Gotoh tuning gears with black buttons and cast Collings tailpiece.
A delightful sounding mandola that features a deep, dark and woody tone. Collings mandolins and mandolas offer a more modern sound to my ear, but the MT leans a little more towards tradition, perhaps due in part to the Engelmann top. Big volume.
Excellent condition overall. Top shows a few scratches along with pinky shine below the fretboard and additional surface shine where the arm rests. Back is like new and stunning. Headstock shows a ding and some scratching. Tailpiece is tarnished. Frets have very minimal wear, nearly none.
Includes original Collings case. Trades considered on this fine American made instrument.
