Master Model formerly owned by Hershel Sizemore. Signed by Charlie Derrington on August 18, 2003. MandoMutt loves Master Models. Particularly the Derrington Era versions. This one has the classic Gibson tone.
Specs:
Adirondack Spruce top, highly figured Maple back/sides/neck in a dark burst thin varnish finish. 3-Ply binding throughout. Flat Ebony fretboard, parallel tone bars, 1-1/16″ nut width, Flowerpot headstock inlay and Waverly tuning machines with Pearl buttons. Original pickguard is not installed but included in the sale.
Big volume, very responsive. Warm, dry and very nicely balanced featuring complex overtones and a stellar bluegrass chop. Beyond Beast sound.
Excellent to Excellent-minus condition showing some playwear. Has been professionally played. Fair amount of wear around the edges of the f-holes, dings and scrapes. Finish has dulled where the arm rests and a finish crack near the tailpiece. Another finish crack around the lower point that runs to the treble f. Tailpiece cover is significantly tarnished. Other superficial playwear on the top. Finish is worn away in an area on the back and has a couple odd looking scratches. Plenty string scratches on the headstock and scrapes around the top edge. Has a couple chips in the finish on back of neck. Some fret wear but still on the light side.
Letter of provenance from Hershel Sizemore and original Loar style hard shell case included. Trades gladly considered on this fine American made instrument.
